Waste Water Treatment

Municipal wastewater is a byproduct of the use of water for domestic, commercial, industrial or agricultural processes. Meeting wastewater effluent standards is a challenge for wastewater facilities around the world.
Sewers collect untreated wastewater from a variety of sources and deliver it to a treatment facility. The treatment of wastewater includes mechanical, biological and chemical processes to remove not only solid materials, but things such as organic pollutants, nitrogen and phosphorous from the effluent before it is available for release into the environment or for reuse. 
Having a robust system for collecting and treating sewage is a key factor to public health. Regulatory standards and oversight for treatment varies around the world. Many countries follow guidelines set by the World Health Organization. More rigorous standards are applied in the European Union, United States of America and other developed countries.
