Quaternary Ammonium Compounds
Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QACS) and similar cationic detergents are widely used as sanitising germicides in the healthcare and food processing industries. The applications include the washing of utensils and equipment, surface cleaning, dishwashing rinse water and other applications where germ-free conditions must be maintained. These are also formulated with various water treatments to inhibit algal growth in cooling towers, humidifiers and swimming pools.
